WHY GO TO THE DENTIST?
Over the last several years, dentistry has evolved from a profession that just focused on tooth decay to a profession that screens for oral cancer, TMJ problems, and understands the delicate balance between your oral health and your overall health.
For example, gum disease causes inflammation in your mouth which is associated with other systemic diseases. The AAP has stated, "Several research studies have suggested that periodontal disease is connected to variety of other diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and rheumatoid arthritis. Scientists believe that inflammation may be the basis for the link between these systemic diseases."
